Blue Moon Wisteria Vine Seeds

Wisteria, a fast-growing deciduous vine, is known for its fragrant flowers that resemble clusters of grapes. According to the National Gardening Association, it can reach heights of 10 feet or more in just one year. Wisteria is a highly versatile plant that can be grown as shrubs, vines, or trees, with flowers that come in a variety of colors and can reach heights of 20 to 30 feet.

To germinate wisteria seeds, soak them in hot water for 10 to 12 hours, then carefully file off a portion of the seed hull. Fill planting cells with a seed starting mix, saturate the soil, and plant two wisteria seeds in each container, covering them with no more than 1/4 inch of soil. Place the seeds in a well-lit and warm room, keeping the soil moist until they sprout. Germination can take anywhere from 10 to 30 days.

Once the wisteria seeds have sprouted and reached a height of 4 to 5 inches with at least two sets of leaves, decide whether to plant them directly into the ground or in another container. Wisteria plants produce large hanging clusters of flowers in spring, with beautiful feathery foliage on twining stems. They are ideal for covering fences and pergolas, are cold-hardy up to zone 4, and can thrive in wet soils.
